OMNNI provided construction administration services for the replacement of the STH 96 Fox River Bridge on a new alignment south of the existing bridge. The bridge construction includes a 14-span, 72W” concrete girder bridge over the Fox River (7 spans), over CTH ZZ (1 span) and over land and an environmentally sensitive area on the east side of the river (6 spans). The Fox River portion of the bridge construction was completed by both causeway and barge construction. Construction includes a cast-in-place concrete retaining wall to connect a pedestrian walkway to the new bridge. Urban approach roadway reconstruction on new alignment was also included and construction of two roundabouts.
Project construction was coordinated with CN Railroad for the installation of a new at-grade crossing and with a separately let project that included early fill and wick drains in the environmentally sensitive area on the east side of the river.
This project received the 2015 Outstanding Highway Construction Award in the Structure Category > $2,000,000 from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). The award was presented to the WisDOT NE Region (owner), OMNNI Associates (construction engineering services), and Lunda Construction Company (prime contractor).
