OMNNI provided architectural design services for renovation to the existing 18,000-square-foot hangar, including a 2-story office area (9,600 square feet). Design included accessibility compliance renovations to the toilet rooms, and installation of a new elevator and exterior stairway. A new fire sprinkler system was installed throughout the entire facility, as well as a foam suppression system for the hangar area. All new finishes were incorporated into the open office areas. The hangar area was modified by providing a hangar door tail cut-out to accommodate storage of larger aircraft. The cut-out consists of a new 30-foot-wide by 5-foot-high upward acting hangar door over the existing bi-parting hangar door. OMNNI provided structural analysis and detail oversight for a seamless result.
Structural design included:
Tail door installation:
o Modifications to an existing pre-fabricated metal building to install a new 5’-0” tall x 30’-0” wide tail door, including altering the end wall framing and braces
o Coordination with door vendor and contractor throughout the design and construction process
o Installation of a new, recessed, first-floor slab and modifications to the second floor framing for a new elevator
o Addition of a masonry and steel-framed sprinkler building
o Modifications to existing second floor framing, including the removal of bearing walls and installation of glue-laminated framing
