Highway Research Program – Geotechnical

Madison, Wisconsin

OMNNI provided geotechnical engineering services for a state-wide research project to determine how variables such as grain size distribution, particle angularity, regional geology and aggregate type influence the load carrying capabilities of crushed aggregate base course (CABC) throughout the state.

OMNNI’s engineers and geotechnical experts studied and tested the different CABCs and determined the ability of each to provide pavement support. Findings were incorporated into the Wisconsin Department of Transportation pavement design process, which allows pavement designers to better predict the load carrying capabilities of the CABC layer thereby maximizing roadway quality and economy.
