OMNNI provided design and construction administration services to the Wisconsin DOT for the replacement of the two-lane bridge over the Fox River with a new four-lane bridge and reconstruction of the approaches. The new structure is a 76-foot wide by 1,375-foot long, four-lane structure located 65’ above the Fox River channel. The bridge has 10 spans, a horizontal curve and two different skews for the piers and abutments. It spans the Fox River below an adjacent dam, a navigational channel, a hydroelectric canal with four of the spans over land, including the Banta Court roadway and over the top of a railroad bridge.
OMNNI also provided engineering services to the City of Appleton for 1.5 miles of College Avenue roadway reconstruction which was scheduled concurrently with the bridge reconstruction. Work east of the bridge included design and construction of the first multi-lane roundabout in the city and the west end of the bridge involved staged construction through the main campus of Lawrence University.
